Project details
Project: Data Centre upgrade
Location: Sydney
Date: 2023
Services: System Upgrade

Precise Air completed a technically complex mechanical services upgrade for a leading technology company, supporting both its critical data centre infrastructure and five levels of newly refurbished commercial office space. The workplace was designed as an open-plan, flexible environment, with intertenancy stairs connecting each floor. The project therefore required a carefully coordinated solution that could meet the differing cooling and ventilation demands of occupied workspaces, showcase areas and business-critical technology environments.
Technical solution
The installation combined high-efficiency plant with dedicated cooling systems selected for resilience, precise environmental control and continuity of operation. The scope included Grundfos condenser water pumps, extensive copper pipework, Stulz InRow coolers, Schneider Electric computer room air-conditioning (CRAC) units, variable refrigerant flow (VRF) systems and dedicated backup air-conditioning units. Together, these systems provide layered cooling capacity and redundancy across critical areas. In the basement, diesel flues and dedicated ventilation were also installed to safely support the backup power infrastructure.
Critical environments and project outcome
Specialised 33 kW InRow coolers were installed to service the showroom, critical server infrastructure and emergency room, delivering targeted cooling where stable operating conditions are essential. Three specialised 66 kW CRAC units were installed in the computer rooms to manage the concentrated heat loads generated by core technology systems. A generator and uninterruptible power supply (UPS) provide vital backup power, while the dedicated backup air-conditioning systems add a further layer of operational resilience. The completed upgrade gives the client an integrated mechanical services solution that supports a contemporary workplace while protecting the availability and reliability of its critical data centre operations.
