Back in 2017, Anthony Meagher started with Precise Fire as Trainee Fire Systems Designer, primarily using the CAD skills he learnt in during his Diploma of Architectural Building Design. Six years later he is a Project Manager, managing the construction of the systems he designs.
“Before I interviewed for the cadetship I really didn’t know anything about the Fire industry,” said Anthony. “I’m always really curious about finding out how things work. I’ve found the fire industry, and fire engineering in particular, is challenging but really satisfying at the same time.”
“As part of my cadetship, Precise Fire supported me while I completed my Diploma in Fire Systems Design. The first half of my cadetship I really focused on CAD design, but I was really given the opportunity to expand in my role. “
“The benefits of working with this team is that you don’t just focus on one thing. After I learnt how to produce designs professionally, I began learning about estimating and project management. I started to go out on site and see the practicalities of the design and how the job comes to life. While I was learning about wet fire (sprinkler) and dry fire (fire detection and alarm) systems, I got to put the theory into practice. Working with Precise Fire I get the advice, support and knowledge from Theo Rigas and Steve Arnold who are really experienced and well respected in our industry.”
Precise Fire’s General Manager Geoff Moore hired Anthony as our first Trainee Fire Engineer. “Initially he focused on CAD layouts and As Builts for our Projects team across Wet and Dry systems,” said Geoff.
“As Anthony grew more confident in his day to day practices he was also developing technical ability with his Fire Engineering Diploma on current projects… and led into procurement, resourcing and cost management, whilst looking to manage margin improvement across the life cycle of projects.”
Geoff believes that Anthony has developed into a competent project designer/ manager and will continue to flourish with his design rigor and engaging personality.
“I love working for Precise Fire because they really care about their employees and how you contribute to the business’ success,” explains Anthony.
“They’ve given me the opportunity to stretch and challenge myself – no one has stopped me from progressing my career. For anyone interested in joining Precise Fire, I would say if you are curious and want to challenge yourself to develop a career, this is a fantastic opportunity. I haven’t looked back once.”
